Eighteen

One of the hardest things about living in Cleveland is that my parents and youngest brother live twelve hours away.

But, this weekend, my mom and my brother Marc visited and stayed with me for a couple of days. While they were here, we threw Marc a surprise party for his eighteenth birthday.

It was so nice to have most of my family in one place. To spend time together, to eat, to laugh. To enjoy pumpkin pie and poppyseed cake. To hold babies. To listen to Regina Spektor on repeat. And to celebrate my brother, who is one of my best friends.

It doesn't happen often enough.
