Ohio Shakespeare Festival

After a long day at work, I usually just want to relax.

Kick back. Unwind.

Maybe share a picnic of grilled sausages and peppers, raspberry parmesan cheese, cucumbers, grapes, blueberry tart, and sweet tea with a cute boy.

Sit outside and take in the splendor of a perfect end-of-summer evening.

In spite of being an English major, I didn’t know about the Ohio Shakespeare Festival and all of its enchantments until this summer.

Boy, am I glad I know about it now.

It’s magical. There is no other way to describe it.

It is magical to watch The Merchant of Venice being performed by talented actors and actresses on a stage illuminated only by stage lights and twinkle lights.

It is magical to do this while wrapped in a blanket that acts as a shield against the dew and chill of the night. To listen to bullfrogs croaking in a nearby pond. To hear the laughter of an audience that is muffled by the largeness of an outdoor theater.

Definitely going next year.
