Notes from an evening in Chagrin Falls, a couple weeks ago while the evenings were still warm.


Rick's Cafe. That's right. As in, Casablanca. Unfortunately, sitting in a diner in Northeast Ohio does not feel anything like being in Morocco. But an occasional camel that is featured in the decor tips you off to the Casablanca reference. Good food, good atmosphere. Delicious fries, especially when doused in salt and vinegar. And the patio outside would be the perfect place to sit and enjoy dinner and conversation on a warm Summer evening.

Jeni's. I don't even know where to begin when it comes to Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream. Bangkok Peanut ice cream with cayenne pepper and coconut in it. Whiskey and pecan. Sweet corn and black raspberry. It's difficult to imagine just how divine it is without actually trying it. One of my favorite places to go anytime, but especially in the Summer.
